FAN OF THE MONTH: I lived in Fostoria, Ohio 40 years then moved to Reno, NV 24 years ago. So I remember Ballreich chips. I grew up with them, the best ones anywhere. We are now remodeling our house and everyday I fix lunch for the workers. They just love Ballreich's, there's nothing like that around here. So, when I run out I hear "no Ballreich's yet?" Good Morning! I am originally from Tiffin, but moved to TN back in 1995. Our family used to own the Snyder Hotel and Cocktail Lounge. I can tell you whenever we get back to Tiffin, we pickup a couple boxes of the barbeque and regular chips to bring back to TN. We freeze them so we can keep them as long as possible! Wanted to let you know I walked into a Kroger store in Lancaster, Ohio and what did I see but Ballreich's Potato Chips!!! :) My parents are from Green Springs and most of my relatives live in Tiffin, Fremont, Port Clinton, Green Springs and the surrounding area. That being said, I have been eating your chips most of my life. People in the Kroger store looked at me funny wondering why I was laughing so loud when I saw your chips. I had to explain to them all about Ballreich's Potato Chips. I have been driving north just to get them or when visiting relatives have made it a point to bring some home. I called my parents as soon as I left the store to tell them the great news. I have always told friends and anyone who would listen how great your chips are. I was doing a health screening at work and mentioned to the nurse that I could not give up my Ballreich's. I did not know her but her reply was "they are hard to stop eating aren't they?". "You must have heard this before! I grew up in Norwalk, Ohio, and graduated from high school in 1957. Becker’s Potato Chips were made in Norwalk, and we loved them, although perhaps taking them for granted, since we didn’t eat any other. Then there came the shocking news that Becker’s had gone out of business…a sad day indeed. Throughout the rest of my life I have tasted chips of all kinds. Some were pretty good, or different in a good way, but nothing, absolutely nothing, was ever as good as Becker’s. Then my sister sent me 8 pounds of Ballreich’s for a Christmas present!!! They are fabulous…every bit as good as Becker’s!! Now…the only problem is I am trying to lose weight, so I gave two different sets of neighbors a pound. They loved them and are begging for more. I had to take another pound over to a New Year’s Eve Party. They disappeared in no time!! I am so pleased to have made this discovery, though I am nearing my twilight years. Please assure me that you won’t be going out of business anytime soon! Ballreich’s Chips are the best Potato Chips I have ever tasted. Went on Saturday and purchased 4 1# bags of the marcelled potato chips (the only ones my brother and I eat). It was like 'going home'. My mother was raised in Fremont, OH. When she got married, her and my father moved to Cincinnati. All of our relatives lived in Fremont, so we went there for every holiday and special times in our lives. We were raised on Ballreich's! "Two years ago, my dad, my friend K.G. and I were visiting my relatives in North Canton, Ohio. We also went to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland while we were there. Anyway, on the drive home, we came through Tiffin, Ohio, and bought some of your potato chips at a gas station there. They were delicious! We intended to save the bag to remember what kind they were, they weren't familiar to us Hoosiers(!), but mistakenly, my dad threw the empty bags of chips away...when we got back to Indiana we looked for them, and found out he'd thrown them away somewhere. What perfect timing! December 1st. was a good day of "happiness" for me. I had ordered 6 Christmas baskets for my boss, friends & co-workers. First off, I LOVE the originals. I grew up in Arcadia on Ballreich chips. When I go home I have to get two bags to take back! Did you know that your chips were starring in a movie? Street Kings has a scene in a convenience store with an end cap of Ballreich’s. This was filmed in LA so why were they in the movie…some one famous love the chips too??? Would love to hear about why they were used in the film…does it have to do with Patrick Markey a producer that grew up in Fostoria?
